MY EPITAPH

Here I shall lie in wait – and anticipate –
my calling from on high.
For my time is spent – quite content –
as to how it has gone by.

Having attained neither wealth nor fame,
my life was directed to a different claim.
A few good friends – did participate,
best of whom, a god given woman, my help-mate.

One messenger – sent to the world – soul appeased,
a son – in whom I am well pleased.
I thank the lord for the learning experience,
and in sleep, shall await – his deliverance.

To all those whom I offended,
I’m sorry, and ask forgiveness,
and to all who gave me their time of day,
I thank you for your thoughtfulness.

Grieve not for me – in my transition,
for we shall meet again, in a future day,
the great- Resurrection.

Walt De
