Brosseau, Walter, S., 90, formerly of Willett Avenue, Riverside, died peacefully on June 5, 2010 at Saint Antoine Residence, North Smithfield. He was the loving husband of Elizabeth G. ‘Betty’ (Evans) Brosseau.
Born in Providence, a son of the late Walter O. and Irene (Horgan) Brosseau, he lived in Riverside for 10 years previously residing in Portsmouth.
Mr. Brosseau was a CPA and Chief Financial Officer at Bank Newport for 16 years before retiring in 1982.
Walter enjoyed golfing and was a member of the Newport Country Club. He also was a member of the Newport Rotary Club and the American Legion Post #.
Mr. Brosseau was a United States Army Veteran serving in four invasions during World War II, where he was a recipient of the Bronze Star.
Besides his wife of 61 years, he is survived by three daughters; Elinor I. Brosseau of Wareham, MA, Mary E. Wilkins of Rockwall, TX and Patricia R. Brosseau of Yarmouth, MA, two sons; Paul W. Brosseau of Gaithersburg, MD and Michael G. Brosseau of Woonsocket, a brother; Leo Brosseau of Westerly and six grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Mary Masse, Theodore, Robert and Francis Brosseau.
His funeral will be held on Thursday June 10, 2010 from the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside at 7:45 am with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Brendan Church, Turner Avenue, Riverside at 9 am. Burial with Military Honors will follow in the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. Calling hours are Wednesday 4-8 pm.
