William D. Fitzgerald

Fitzgerald, William D., 73, of Worcester Avenue, Riverside, died peacefully on August 25, 2017. He was the companion of Peggy Hann of North Smithfield.

Born in Boston, MA, a son of the late Ruth (Durfee) Fitzgerald, he lived in Riverside for the past 4 years previously residing in Woonsocket.

Mr. Fitzgerald was a painting contractor for many years.

William was a United States Army Veteran serving during Vietnam.

Mr. Fitzgerald was a member of the Woonsocket American Legion. A sports enthusiast, he was a devoted Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots fan. He enjoyed reading, solving crossword puzzles and spending time with his loving family.

Besides his companion, he is survived by two daughters, Kerri L. Lombardi and her husband Michael of Riverside and Erin L. Fitzgerald of Riverside; a son, Sean D. Fitzgerald of Riverside; two sisters, Jane Kennedy of Brockton, MA and Sandra Turowski of Brockton, MA; eight grandchildren and several cousins. He was the brother of the late Michael Fitzgerald, Cookie Barrett and Geraldine Taylor.

His funeral will be held at a date and time to be announced. Burial will be held in the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter.

    I will miss the little talks I had everyday with your Dad. I think of him everyday and will always remember the laughs we shared. God will take care of him and he is in peace in the Kingdom of God. He was and still is my father-in-law, Dad, and best friend.
