McCoy, William, D., Jr., 80, of Allen Avenue, Riverside, died unexpectedly on January 15, 2015 at home. He was the beloved husband of Virginia W. (Wayland) McCoy.

Born in Boston, MA, a son of the late William D. McCoy Sr. and Ruby Jordan McCoy, he lived in Riverside for 34 years.

William was a graduate of Harvard University Class of 1956 cum laude.

Mr. McCoy was a national editor for the Washington Post and was an accomplished writer. He later pursued a career as a financial analyst for many years. He was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling.

Besides his wife of 33 years, he is survived by three sisters, Joyce M. Hupper and her husband John of New York City, NY, Jean M. Herring of Union, NJ and Joanne M. Haussermann of Wellesley Hills, MA and several loving nieces and nephews and grandnieces and nephews. He was the proud godfather of Bridget Powers Peterson. He was the brother-in-law of the late Arthur H. Haussermann.

His funeral service will be held on Tuesday January 20, 2015 in the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside at 12 noon. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Calling hours are Monday 5-7 p.m.
