William R. Fontaine

Fontaine, William R., 84, of Beverly Road, Riverside, died peacefully on November 18, 2023 at The Evergreen Health Center, East Providence. He was the beloved husband of Barbara (Zinni) Fontaine.

Born in Pawtucket, a son of the late Henry and Beatrice (LaCourse) Fontaine, he lived in Riverside for 50 years.

Mr. Fontaine was a Crane Operator in Metals Processing for many years. He also worked for the City of Cranston Highway Department.

William was a communicant of St. Luke’s Church. He was a wonderful neighbor who always offered to help others.

Mr. Fontaine was a United States Army Veteran.

Besides his wife of 63 years, he is survived by a daughter, Lisa Henderson of Titusville, FL; a son, William Nicholas Fontaine of Exeter; four grandchildren, Samantha Hall, William Henderson, Noah Fontaine and Alex Fontaine and five great-grandchildren.

His funeral service will be held on Saturday December 2, 2023 in the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside. Calling hours and flowers are respectfully omitted.

  9. So sorry to hear of Bill’s passing. I knew him for many years in Riverside. Enjoyed his company. He shall be missed.

  10. I first met Bill when I worked at Jacks Gulf back in 1967. Over the years my wife and I would see him during our walks and stop for a chat. We last talked to him a few months ago going down the Street on his scooter. He would give my dog a treat from his basket.
