Allen, William, T., Jr., 78, of Richmond Avenue, died peacefully on February 10, 2010. He was the beloved husband of D. Patricia (Fox) Allen.

Born in Providence, a son of the late William T. and Annie (Erickson) Allen, he lived in Barrington for 12 years previously residing in East Providence.

Mr. Allen was a teacher at the East Providence Vocational Technical School from 1971-1993.

William was a graduate and president of East Providence High School Class of 1951. He was selected to the Rhode Island All State Football and Track teams. He was a graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design Class of 1957 and Rhode Island College Class of 1981.

Mr. Allen was named the Rhode Island State Teacher of the Year in 1989and the Rhode Island VICA Advisor of the Year in 1993. He was the former track coach at East Providence High School where he coached several state championship teams. He was past president of the East Providence Jr. Chamber of Commerce. He was a member of the Vocational Teachers of America and the National Educational Association.

William was a United States Navy Veteran serving during the Korean War.

Besides his wife, he is survived by three sons; William T. Allen III of Bethel, CT, David C. Allen of Manhattan Beach, CA and Paul K. Allen of West Warwick, four step-daughters; Mary P. Heffner of Barrington, Margaret F. Rock of Riverside, Madeline R. Crocker of North Kingstown and Theresa A. Connelly of Barrington, two brothers; Robert Allen of Barrington and Ronald Allen of South Kingstown, a sister; Gail Blackmar of Chapel Hill, NC and thirteen grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Kenneth C. Allen.

His funeral will be held on Saturday February 13, 2010 from the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside at 10:45 am with a Funeral Service in St. John’s Episcopal Church, 191 County Road, Barrington at 12 noon. Burial will follow in Forest Chapel Cemetery, Nayatt Road, Barrington.
